Last weekend I went to DC with HB and my family for my cousin's wedding. I arrived to DC late Friday night (Or would it be Saturday morning? It was like 12am), and stayed at an Airbnb. But since I was dead-tired and it was the middle of the night, I just showered and went to sleep once I got unpacked. When morning came, my parents, HB, and I went out to look at monuments. We arrived at a great time because there was a cherry blossom festival going on, and there were cherry trees in full bloom lining the roads. It would've been pretty to take cosplay photos with them haa. Oh, and I gotta mention. The traffic was intense there. Moreso than LA. There were so many one-way streets @@. Glad I wasn't the one driving. Glad I was mostly walking. Anyways, the first stops we made were the White House and the Washington Monument. Then we followed a very long path to the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. Just outside the memorial there were also boat rentals. Y'know the ones you pedal and look like a swan? I wanted to ride one but didn't have time. Korean War Veterans Memorial and Reflecting Pool. Lincoln Memorial. All the buildings and statues were much larger than I thought they would be. It was all very impressive. When I was standing next to the Lincoln statue, it felt like that scene from Hercules when he's meeting Zeus for the first time. After the Lincoln Memorial, I had to get ready and head out to the wedding venue. I think I spent close to three hours walking from landmark to landmark. I didn't get to see all the monuments, but perhaps in the future? (The far far future, because plane tickets are expensive lol) The rest of the day was spent enjoying my cousin's wedding. I almost cried. It was def one of the most memorable weddings I've gone to. The next day, HB and I moved into a different Airbnb, and my family and most of my relatives flew out of DC. We spent Sunday exploring museums. People told us that looking through all the museums would take several days; I was skeptical, but they were right. Most of the museums are close together and within short walking distance, but viewing a single building can take a few hours. The first thing we looked at was the Hirshhorn Sculpture Garden. There were a lot of cool sculptures, but there were also some that made me want to laugh (sorry to the sculptors). Like that very dramatic person sitting on a very dramatic horse. Then we passed through a cute garden and entered this very majestic looking castle. Inside the castle was a visitor center. Here, we picked up a map and a small breakfast. We saw this domed building (Ripley Center) and went inside. We thought it was going to just be a small thing, but then there was this long staircase that led downstairs and it was actually massive inside. There were a bunch of different galleries within. Nice, right? Then we went to the National Museum of Natural History. Here's HB with a T-rex. Lastly, we went to the National Museum of American History. Except we were only in there for 30min-hour??? Because it was closing time and everyone had to leave. We dedicated an entire day to museums, but we weren't even close to finishing them all @@! So, like the monuments, perhaps I can see the rest of them in the far future. I wish I could post all the pictures I took there, but I took so many.
I was hesitant to go to DC because of the cost, but I'm soooo relieved and happy that I went. It was such a great experience and it makes me want to travel more haha.

AboutHi I'm RQ and this is where I blog about my cosplay and daily life.
*I'm taking a break from cosplay.
Looking back at what I wrote in my posts make me cringe, but I'll leave this blog up in case people still want to use my cosplay progress/WIPs as a resource for their own projects. Categories
