Did another casual cosplay: Yato from Noragami! Noragami makes me teary one moment, and laughing during the next. Last year I was going to cos Kofuku and went ahead and bought her wig. But as time passed, I couldn't resist Yato and ended up being him instead. I might still consider Kofuku in the future though. Here are the list of products I used for Yato: Wig: ebay. I got the color "purple-black". I cut, styled, and pinned this wig after I got it. Please note that this wig has a slightly smaller circumference than average wig-sizes (so it may not fit everyone). Tracksuit: ebay (seller: cosyyphk). I suggest getting a size up. I normally wear US small, but I got a medium for this one. A word of warning though! I first bought Yato's outfit from the seller "vogue20100928" and their product picture was very misleading. When I received the costume, the colors were off, and the stripes on the tracksuit were dark cerulean blue instead of white or icy blue (I must sound super picky right now, but the colors just looked very not-yato). The size of the costume also looked like it was meant for juniors? I was pretty miffed about the whole thing (although I have myself to blame too bc I didn't want to sew it). Anyways, I ended up having to buy another tracksuit from a different seller and was sooo much happier afterwards. So yeah, do NOT buy the yato costume from "vogue20100928." Scarf: Cut up fabric from Joann's Shoes: I reused my Elite Knight boots Contacts: I used desiolens in innocent white when I wore this to ALA, but during the photoshoot I was wore green lenses that were photoshopped blue post-photo. Photoshoot: Photos and editing by harvestbuddy. I have two banana pictures because I loved both ;; Yato is always advertising himself, but since I didn't want to actually go out vandalizing property, a transparent text file was photoshopped into the picture instead. Those are all the photos for now! I'm already excited for my next shoot though, because it's going to be with dokitude as Bishamon. Couple/group cosplay is always so much fun ; 7 ;

I got more photos from my Prince of Persia (2008) shoot I did last year! (If you want to see the other pictures they can be found here) Photography by harvestbuddy. I couldn't decide which angle I liked so I asked HB to edit all of them for me lol. That's it! The next cosplay shoot I'll be doing is likely Yato from Noragami :)
I had the opportunity of going to Anime Los Angeles on Friday and Saturday (Jan 29 & 30)! I didn't have any cosplays made/prepared for the con so I went with an online-bought costume of Yato from Noragami on Friday (I didn't like the scarf it came with so I bought fabric and cut it up instead. For shoes, I reused the boots I wore for my Dark Souls cosplay). Here I am with a Hiyori ❤ (I should have asked her for her IG) After seeing this picture, I think I have to add more cuts to the scarf... There were a handful of Noragami cosplayers so that was great! But I didn't really say hi to all of them??? I was totally admiring them from afar though. Here are a few pictures from the con: Dragon Age!! They all looked so good! Ladybug from Miraculous Ladybug. Do you guys watch the show? I want to try cosplaying Cat Noir. Danmachi! Hestia and Bell. They looked super cute together but once I got home I realized that the picture wasn't even in focus?! I like a lot of the characters in the series but my dream would be to find a Bete Loga cosplayer since he's my favorite. I will probably shout if I ever see one.
The very adorable Hiyori keychain was given to me by dokitude. She also gave me a Daikoku, but he wasn't included in the photo lol. Sorry Daikoku.
That's about it! If time permits, I'd like to go to ALA again next year. I'm subscribed to a handful of makeup artists on youtube; two of which being Pony and Lisa Eldridge. When I found out they were releasing their own goods, I was incredibly excited and purchased them right away. So today I'm going to share pictures of some of the products from the line "Pony Effect" and the book "Face Paint: The Story of Makeup". We'll start with Pony Effect. I bought two lipsticks (Vibrant Club & Expensive Dinner) and a Noble Brunch set which came in a vibrant pink and purple box. There was a black ribbon initially attached to the pink outer case, but I forgot to take a picture of it. Underneath the pink outer case was a reflective and very sturdy silver box. The Noble Brunch set came with an eyeshadow palette, contour palette, four nail polishes, and the lipstick Noble Brunch. The eyeshadow and contour palettes with the clear protective sheets on top. Eyeshadow swatches taken in natural lighting. I couldn't get a good photo of the contour palette so there are no swatches for that one :( Lipsticks (From left: Noble Brunch, Expensive Dinner, Vibrant Club) Nail Polishes (From left: Be Imagination, Party Fever, Illusion Glass, Sensual Seduction) Lipstick swatches in natural lighting. Vibrant club is a darker red with plum undertones. I looove these lipsticks, I feel like these swatches don't do them justice. Nail polish swatches in natural lighting. I have no excuse for the terrible application, so I will just apologize for the hot mess lol. My favorite colors are Be Imagination and Illusion Glass. Everything together! I didn't want my reflection to show up in the mirrors so I held up a pillow while I took the picture. Here I'm wearing Vibrant Club on my lips. Band-aid on my face because I had a scab. I'm happy with all the products so far! The contour palette gives me subtle shading and highlight without making me orange or ashy. The lipsticks are very pigmented and stay on fairly well as well. I wore Vibrant Club to a wedding but it didn't really wear off much when I was eating and drinking; it barely left a stain on my glass. Of course when I wiped my mouth or something, it slightly faded, but that's normal. As for the eyeshadows, I think some of them could have been a little more pigmented, but I may have to try different application techniques. The glittery shadows Just 10 seconds and All That Glam also have a bit of fallout, but it's the typical amount that most glittery shadows have. I don't have anything to say about the nail polishes since I haven't had a chance to wear them out yet. But yeah, everything is good so far and I've been using Pony Effect frequently ever since I got it. If Pony releases more products I'll definitely purchase them ❤. I bought all the items from Gmarket and it took about a week to arrive, but if you live in South Korea you can get them at the official site Pony Effect. Now onto Face Paint! "Face Paint: The Story of Makeup" is a book that goes over the history of makeup, its trends, meanings, and includes trivia information as well as lots of lovely pictures. It was something I liked to read at night before I go to sleep. But the book made me view makeup in a new angle since its contents were not simply application tutorials but stories of its origin (it also gave me ideas for character designs haha). If you're interested in the background of makeup you might want to consider picking this up!
I bought my copy on amazon, but you can also purchase it from Barnes & Nobles. I decided to do a casual cosplay of Hana Midorikawa from Kangoku Gakuen (Prison School). After watching the anime, I binge read the manga lol. I didn't make my cosplay myself this time, so here are the list of products I bought: Wig: ebay (This wig was too big for my head so I had to pin some of the hair back for the photos) Shirt: LE3NO Womens Tailored Short Sleeve Button Down Shirt with Stretch Shoes: Women’s Slip-on Dress Loafer Shoe Skirt: SOHOSKIRTS (exact style is unavailable) Neck Ribbon: I just cut up a piece of red fabric False Lashes: Etude House Princess: 04 Longlash (I stacked two together) Lipstick: colourpop lippie stix: luau (discontinued) Photoshoot I'm also looking for a Kiyoshi cosplayer to take pictures with! So if you're in Southern California and you're interested, send me an email at [email protected].
While I was at anime expo this year, I preordered the limited edition bundle for Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance. The bundle came with a game disc, art book, soundtrack cd, figure, and poster. All the goodies together. The front and back of the box that everything came in. The game case which comes with reversible cover art. The art book inside of the box. The soundtrack cd and the figure of Usalia. The poster of Seraphina and Usalia. That's all of it! With all the extra things it came with, I'm glad I bought this bundle ´∀ ` So far I've only played up to chapter 3 of the game, but I'm having lots of fun. I also like the English voice for Killia??? But I didn't like some of the other English voice acting so I ended up setting the voices to Japanese >> Now for something unrelated to Disgaea.
A while back I had played Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky. The game was mostly relaxing and enjoyable to playthrough with exception to a few bosses that kept healing themselves (that was sort of frustrating lol). Anyways, after completing the game I became very interested in purchasing the art book. So here it is! (I actually bought this in the summer, but forgot to mention it). The book is almost completely comprised of art (it has 144 pages and it's at least 90% art). It contains character designs, cutscenes, concept art of characters and monsters, backgrounds, and a couple other content. But overall, the whole thing is pretty gorgeous. |
AboutHi I'm RQ and this is where I blog about my cosplay and daily life.
*I'm taking a break from cosplay.
Looking back at what I wrote in my posts make me cringe, but I'll leave this blog up in case people still want to use my cosplay progress/WIPs as a resource for their own projects. Categories
